Quail Hunting
Bobwhite quail get their name from the very unique call they make, which sounds like a whistled “bobwhite.” They are one of the smaller upland game birds with a round body that usually grow to be about a food long. They have the typical short, strong beak of most upland birds and they have very strong feet and claws used for running and finding food. The majority of their diet is made up of seeds and fruits.

Most bobwhite quail have a reddish-brown color to their plumage with black and white spots on their backs, with a gray tail. Male bobwhites have a white throat and a white stripe that goes from their bill, over their eye, and down to the bottom of their neck. They have a black neck collar that runs from just below their eyes under their head. Female quail do not have this black collar and their necks and lines on their head are dulled brown instead of white like the male. When scared, the quail will typically grow very still, which lets its camouflaged feathers blend right in with its surroundings.
