Chukar Habitat
Chukar are usually found in North America in western states where there is mountainous, rocky areas that have the type of habitat mixed in they need for survival. Their preferred habitat would be an area like the Great Basin with plenty of desert shrubs. They typically dwell in areas that are arid to semiarid where water might be available in varying areas. They generally can be found in areas that have plenty of cover as well as food, so open plains used for agriculture do not support chukar very well.
Attempts have been made to introduce chukar to other areas and most have proved unsuccessful, lending the idea that they are already established in ideal areas.
