Bighorn sheep can be found inhabiting alpine meadows, steep mountain slopes, and foothill terrain. They prefer to live in areas that have rocky slopes that they can climb in order to avoid predators. The Bighorn Sheep can be found in the Rocky Mountains from southern Canada to Colorado and parts of Nevada, western Texas and eastern California and northern Mexico. The bighorn changes its home range seasonally. In warm months, it grazes on mountain slopes; in colder months it moves down to valleys. Female bighorns live in groups of five to fifteen sheep made up of ewes and their young. Males live in groups of two to five sheep. In the winter bands of ewes may join together and form large groups of up to 100 sheep. Males will join the female groups during mating season.

Wild boars are found in a large variety of habitats since they were introduced to so many locations by people, but the habitat of a wild boar usually consists of forest and low lying shrub areas, particularly oak forests and areas where food is abundant. They are limited in their travel by snowfall, as deep snow makes it difficult for them to move and find food. They are also pretty sensitive to severe changes in temperature, which is why they wallow in cool muddy areas in the summer. It also protects from sunburn and insects. Boars prefer weather warmer than 50 degrees, but they are also prone to sunstroke in warmer months.

The America black bears inhabit woods and mountainous terrain all across North America, ranging from Florida to Alaska, all over Canada, and even down into northern parts of Mexico. With the expansion of humans into black bear habitat – thanks to logging, farming, and city development – the black bear has had to grow and adapt, which it has done exceedingly well. They are opportunistic feeders and will eat just about anything they find that is edible. They are omnivores eating plants and meat, with a primary diet consisting of berries, grasses, plants, nuts but also eating small animals, fish, and carrion.

Black bears eat much more plant matter for food than meat or animal matter. They eat primarily the grasses and forbs that grow in the spring. They also eat tree-born fruits during summer months, berries, nuts, leaves, and twigs. The determining factor on what a bear will eat is determined by what is available, as black bears are not active predators. Bears gorge themselves to store up a fat reserve for winter hibernation where they’re generally searching for foods higher in fats and proteins as they store up a hibernation supply of energy.

Most estimates for an average food intake is about 80 lbs of plants daily. With that much of an intake need, they spend a lot of time searching out and grazing on food. They eat a large variety of plantlife, including leaves, ferns, grasses, mosses, broadleaf plants, and twigs. In the wild, the average lifespan for a Moose is between 8 and 12 years.

In Alaska and northern Canada, caribou can be found in treeless tundra and mountainous areas year-round, though many herds will move to a taiga area for winter months. Female will generally give birth in the same general areas each year. Caribou may change their migration patterns to find new areas for feeding after using the same migration path for years. This fact can create problems for people living in Alaska and Canada that depend on regular caribou migration paths for food.
