Caribou Habitat
In Alaska and northern Canada, caribou can be found in treeless tundra and mountainous areas year-round, though many herds will move to a taiga area for winter months. Female will generally give birth in the same general areas each year. Caribou may change their migration patterns to find new areas for feeding after using the same migration path for years. This fact can create problems for people living in Alaska and Canada that depend on regular caribou migration paths for food.
