Salmon

Sockeye Salmon
The Sockeye salmon or red salmon is found in the Northern Pacific Ocean and in the rivers that feed into it. Next to the pink and chum salmon, it is the most common type. The primary food source for Sockeye salmon is zooplankton, which is their primary diet during both the freshwater and saltwater life phases. It is thought that this diet is responsible for their color and low levels of methylmercury which is found in most fresh and saltwater fish species.

Atlantic Salmon
The Atlantic Salmon live in the Northern Atlantic ocean and in rivers that flow into the North Atlantic and North Pacific. Sea living Atlantic Salmon tend to be a little larger in size than land locked (freshwater salmon). They will range in weight from 5 to 20 pounds as apposed to 9 to 12 pounds. Atlantic Salmon differ from Pacific salmon as they tend to have fewer than 13 rays in the anal fin. When they are adults they have black spots, predominantly above the lateral line, and their mouth is moderately large. They have a bronze-purple coloration and may acquire reddish spots on the head and body when spawning.
