Muskie

Muskie can be identified by their elongated body, flat head, and fins that are set far back on the body. They range from two to five feet in length and can weigh up to 66 pounds. Their color is a light silver, brown or green with dark vertical stripes on the flank. Muskie are found in large and small rivers from northern Michigan and the Wisconsin area and as far down as the Tennessee River Valley. They prefer clear water and are not usually found in water temperatures below 68 degrees. Muskie stay along weed edges and will rest along rock outcrops. They will eat almost anything but their diet consists of smaller fish, crayfish, frogs, ducklings, snakes, muskrats, mice, and other small mammals.
