Freshwater Striper
Freshwater Striper or Striped Bass look much like their saltwater counterparts. They are olive-green, blue, or black dorsally and have seven or eight dark, continuous stripes along the side of the body. They do not attain the same length as those in saltwater but have a tendency to grow greater girth dimensions in proportion to their length, and grow much faster, but also reach old age sooner. Freshwater Striper can reach weights up to 50 pounds or more. They can thrive in freshwater reservoirs that stay cool in the summer, contain enough oxygen, and have adequate forage. Their diet mainly consists of Shad.
